About Katie
Dr. Katie Nieves Licwinko is dedicated to empowering and supporting educators and learners through innovative and intentional educational technology integration. During this time, she was a resource room ELA teacher and a multisensory reading intervention teacher, and she co-taught language arts, history, and science. In August 2024, Katie began her role as the Director of Technology for the Chester School District, where she manages technology integration and infrastructure for the three schools.
Katie has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education/Liberal Arts from Centenary University, where she also earned four New Jersey DOE teaching certifications. She has a Master of Arts in Educational Technology, where she produced a study on the impact of 1:1 devices on teacher revisions to IEPs in the accommodations and modifications sections of the documents. In 2022, she earned her Doctorate in Educational Technology Leadership from New Jersey City University. Her dissertation is an explanatory sequential mixed methods study of how special education co-teachers around the United States are integrating technology into their co-teaching practice. Katie's work has been published in peer-reviewed textbooks and journals, including the Journal of Special Education Technology. She has also been publishing with Edutopia since her second year as a teacher.
